baby and butterflies

I don’t know how many times I can say a session was one of my favorites, but this session certainly exemplified everything I love about my job and how lucky I am to get to work with the people I meet.  Baby Harper is absolutely adorable and reminded me of a happy little Gerber baby.  Her mom had thought of incorporating live butterflies into her session and although we struggled to get the little critters to cooperate with our initial vision, it ended up working out beautifully.  I absolutely love the way her images turned out and especially loved meeting this dear family.  Thank you, precious Harper, for a perfect Saturday morning.

susie

I took some quick shots of Cole’s cousin, Susie, the same day I took the latest pictures of Cole.  Susie lives in Oklahoma City so I sadly don’t get to see her as often as I’d like.  I adore this little girl though and she’s so darn cute and funny that I could eat her up.  Cole’s sister, Kathryn, jumped in for a few pictures at the end.  The girls’ moms are sisters and have the special kind of relationship that makes my heart ache and wish I had a sister of my own.  The cousins don’t have a sister either (yet!) but the bond they share with each other is as close to sisterhood as I’ve seen.  I love these girls!

One reason I don’t blog as much as I would like is because of the time I usually spend writing up the post and deciding which pictures to include.  I’m going to try to get in the habit of posting more frequently though and I think if I just do short and sweet posts with fewer pictures, I may be able to stick with it more easily!  We’ll see how this goes!

For a quick post tonight, I thought I would share a recent picture of baby Cole.  I shared his courageous story here and wanted to show how precious, happy and healthy he is today!  His uncle walked in just as we were finishing up and I was able to get a shot of the only two boys together from that side of the family.  The grandmother can’t wait to get that image framed in her house.  I’m working on talking her out of the idea of doing a wall size mural out of it!  :)

the triplets are two!

You may remember these adorable brothers from here when I photographed them when they turned one.  They have been some of my absolute favorite clients ever since I first met the boys when they were babies.  (Sadly, my old blog isn’t live anymore, so I can’t refer back to their newborn session.  Trust me, they were too cute for words!)  I was amazed then by their parents and how they so calmly and patiently juggled three little newborns.  I am in awe today though of how they have bravely faced and overcome tragic and terrifying obstacles.

Shortly after our session last summer, one of the boys contracted meningitis.  Alex was seriously ill and hospitalized for weeks.  It was an incredibly frightening time as the doctors weren’t sure whether or not Alex would survive or, if he did, if he would make a complete recovery.  As if that wouldn’t be enough for parents to deal with, they also had two other babies at home who needed care.  With immeasurable love, support and prayers from so many people, Alex has made an inspiring recovery and is now a happy, healthy, busy two year old who loves nothing more than to run around with his brothers.

Courtney and Justin, I know the last year was an incredibly long road and it was filled with so many emotions.  It was such a joy for me to be able to see Alex laughing, chasing dogs and playing with sticks and to think about how far he has come since those scary, dark days one year ago.  You have such a special family and your boys truly have forever touched my heart.  Love and huge hugs to Alex, Cade and Connor!

lucky seven

I have known this beautiful family of seven since they were just a family of two and have loved watching both their family and their love grow over the years.  Their children are just as precious on the inside as they are on the outside and couldn’t be sweeter, kinder or more loving with one another.  How lucky and blessed they are to grow up with built-in best friends!  There will never be a shortage of someone to play with, talk to, laugh with or hug.  I loved every minute spent with them and feel honored to be able to capture this time in their lives.
