Most moms would feel a bit overwhelmed with two kids under the age of two, but this mom seems to have it all together. She was so laid back and relaxed and you could see her peace through her precious children. Darling baby Simon hung out happily the entire session and was one of the most content newborns I’ve ever seen. Although still pretty little herself, Charlotte is so proud of her baby brother and just wishes he were big enough to have tea parties with her! My oldest two kids are 17 months apart and although the first few months of having two under the age of two were kind of a sleep-deprived blur, I wouldn’t change it for anything. Charlotte and Simon are blessed to have built-in playmates for life!
This session was a dream – great light in the house, a fabulous nursery and a sweet, loving and beautiful family. Thanks so much for having me, Charlotte and Simon! You both are angels!
The mom of these beautiful girls called me to schedule a session with her oldest daughter when her daughter lost her two front teeth. Mom wanted to make sure she captured this fleeting moment in time before it too quickly passed. I took lots of pictures of darling Olivia as her two younger sisters quietly watched. I couldn’t resist the opportunity though to get some shots of all the girls while I was there, so I begged the younger ones to get dressed and let me capture some images of them as well. These sisters couldn’t be sweeter, kinder or more loving. They are definitely as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. Thank you so much, Olivia, Lucy and Maggie for playing with me and sharing a bit of your happiness and smiles (especially the toothless one)! Hugs to all of you! xoxo
This darling family was my first ever paid session and has always had a special place in my heart. At the time of our first shoot, they just had a sweet princess, but I recently had the privilege of going back and shooting Elsie with her new little brother. Baby Charlie came into the world earlier than planned, but by the time he was home and I met him, he was the picture of health. He was a perfect angel the entire session and even gave me a few grins while dreaming! I especially loved his little spiky hair and had to get a photo of it. Elsie is such a loving, nurturing sister and adores her brother. It was a joy to spend time with them.
I usually tell my clients to think of my sessions as play dates with their kids, and this session was possibly the best play date ever! I have photographed this beautiful family before and I feel like the kiddos are now my best friends. The little girl’s hugs truly melted my heart. They are the dearest children and are especially loving and adoring with their sweet baby sister. If you look at the top of my blog, there is an image of a newborn baby in front of a pink rose painting. That tiny newborn is now a chunky little baby whose cheeks begged to be squeezed! She truly could be a Gerber baby and was so happy the entire session. The painting hangs in her room and has special meaning since her middle name is Rose.
After capturing some images of baby Holland in front of her rose painting, we went outside to run, play and for the girls to dress up in tutus and tiaras. At the end of the session, the two big kids found a wonderful dirt pile in the driveway and were in heaven! It would be hard to find a more perfect morning. I hated to say goodbye and leave all the fun!
Thank you so much, “C” family, for having me over to play! Next time I want a tutu that I can wear though! I adore you all and can’t wait to see you again!
My session with these brothers definitely ranked up there as one of the best ever! This family has been going to the lake every weekend for many years and their happiest memories together have been shared there. With the oldest brother home from college for the summer, it only made sense that we do their session in their element – which included sun, water, tanned skin and bare feet….oh, and also a few death-defying leaps into the air on sea-doos. Somehow, though, they thankfully came out of the session alive!
Not only are the boys tons of fun, but I was incredibly touched by their relationship with each other. In between the pushing each other off the dock and the rocking one another off the other’s sea-doo, it was easy to see the deep and special bond they share. It’s definitely a brotherly love that goes beyond the laughter during fun-filled summer days. I hope my own two boys grow up with a similar respect and admiration for each other and remain the best of friends as Mont and Mitch have. I know their parents must be incredibly proud.
Thanks so much for having me out to party cove, guys! It was a blast!
It truly doesn’t get much cuter than these three boys! I was thrilled to meet the triplets and their sweet parents last fall for their newborn session. They are now almost one and clearly have their own individual, special personalities. They have all been sleeping through the night for awhile and I think Mom is finally catching her breath and seeing the light of day! I again left their home filled with so many emotions – sadness that I couldn’t stay longer to play with them, gratitude for sibling bonds and joy from watching the boys as they giggled, crawled, tried to stand, balanced with a foot in the air, were perplexed by grass, shared their food with their dog, gnawed on crackers, smiled contentedly while swinging at the park, pushed one another over, cried when they were pushed, stared at my camera with curiosity, held hands as they ate lunch and hugged their mom. I feel blessed to have been invited into their home and their lives for a day.
this was posted on my old blog shortly before the old blog went away….I wanted to preserve this session as well as a few others though, so I am re-posting a few on my new blog. sorry for the repeats!
I recently had the opportunity to do a session in a beautiful, gorgeous setting – which also happened to be the client’s own yard. This dear family used to be our neighbors years ago in an historic neighborhood just outside of downtown. Their love of horses, dogs and wide open spaces though inspired them to trade their 1920s colonial house for a new ranch home on an acreage with woods, a barn, room for horses and space to live and play together as a family.
Horses are a huge part of this family’s life (okay, maybe not so much dad’s life!) and we made sure to do a lot of shooting in the barn and around their extended four-legged family. I promised the daughters that I wouldn’t take “awkward family photos” and I hope they’re pleased with the way the images turned out. It truly was a pleasure – not only to see their beautiful landscape, but to capture the love, joy and fun they share with one another.

these darling sisters had fabulous new dresses for a black-tie event. since there aren’t many black-tie opportunities for young girls and they likely wouldn’t wear these dresses often, their mom wanted to capture their beauty in pictures. although the dresses are stunning, I think these sweet girls would look gorgeous in just about anything! they were so fun to work with and it was a joy getting to play dress-up with them for an afternoon!

I am so proud to finally unveil my new blog! I couldn’t have done it without the fabulous talent of Renee at Ribbons of Red and am so grateful to her for her eye, her expertise, her vision and her patience. With this new blog, I hope to find the time to post more sessions than I have before, as well as share some of my personal work.
As I tried to determine which post to lead with on the new blog, I decided nothing was closer to my heart than my own family. This is why I ever became interested (or obsessed) with photography and why I continue to love what I do. To me, a photograph captures a specific moment in time. It captures the feeling and emotion to which one can always return. It tells a story for generations to come to be able to share.
We recently went on an amazing family vacation, which I’d like to think we’ll remember forever. As each day passes though, the memories and details of the trip will fade slightly. With photographs, however, I will always be able to go back to Ellie’s joy at finding a large conch shell in the ocean, the freedom Reed felt as he paddle boarded out in the sea by himself, and Walker’s gut-bursting laughter as he tried to knock Reed off the kayak in our family viking olympics. The moments we share together as a family are priceless and I hope by chronicling our lives with photographs, that the pictures will always tell our story….a story about family, about life and about joy, respect, peace, laughter, loyalty and unconditional love.
This darling girl’s grandmother called me to buy a gift certificate for her granddaughter’s first birthday. I can’t think of a better gift than the gift of photos to capture this precious time! Maggie was a perfect angel the entire session and never stopped smiling. Her grandparents were out there with us and I think granddad is pretty smitten with his littlest girl. He definitely knows a thing about girls too since he and his wife have three daughters and four granddaughters! How fun for those girls to grow up with such a sisterhood in their extended family. It was truly a joy meeting them and sweet Maggie captured my heart!
